Pair Of Ormolu Candelabra In The Louis XVI Style, French Neoclassical Work Circa 1900

This elegant pair of four-light arms boasts fine chasing and rich ornamentation inspired by the great decorative repertoire of the 18th century: acanthus leaves, pearls, interlacing rings, water leaves, laurel and berries, straight flutes and torsos make up a particularly refined ensemble.

The central fluted shaft develops in a remarkable upward movement, enriched with long leafy sprays evoking stylized cornucopias from which emerge the light arms in the form of plant scrolls.

The quality of the bronze is evident in the workmanship of the reliefs and the finesse of the casting: clean contours, nervous foliage, matte backgrounds and subtly nuanced antique gilding.

These candelabras belong to the fine French productions of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, which reinterpreted with refinement the great Louis XVI models for the elegant interiors of the Third Republic.

Drilling at the base for electrification, probably original or very old.
