Restoration-period mercury ormolu clock from the early 19th century. This romantic clock features King Louis XIV offering a watch to Queen Maria Theresa of Austria. As with most clocks from this period, the chasing is remarkable! Accented by the bright, ambered gilding, the rendering of the clothes is particularly well executed, allowing a faithful representation of the embroidery. The white enameled dial is in very good condition, and the clock features a silk thread pendulum mechanism with hour and half-hour striking function. Original pendulum and key supplied.
