Jean-François Colson ( Dijon 1733- Paris 1803 )
A painter, architect and sculptor from his youth, geometry, anatomy and above all perspective were Jean-François Colson's favorite studies.
After stays in Avignon, Grenoble and then Lyon, he joined the painter Donat Nonnotte, who made him a remarkable portraitist. He moved to Paris to work with his brother Jean-Claude (b. 1724), a theater actor known as Bellecour.Around 1765 and 1766, he gave courses in elementary, theoretical and practical perspective for painters, sculptors and architects.
Meeting the Duke of Bouillon gave a new direction to his career.
The Duke appoints him to the position of Ordonnateur Général des Bâtiments et Académies du Duc de Bouillon.
In 1771, Jean-François Colson became the Duke of Bouillon's official painter, and remained so for thirty years. In 1772, he was commissioned to embellish the Château de Navarre, the Duc de Bouillon's residence near Evreux, as sculptor and engineer for the English gardens.
He took part in the Salons libres of 1793, 1795 and 1799. He was not entirely absorbed by painting. He philosophized, calculated and taught. In 1797, he opened a perspective course at the Lycée des Arts. A man of letters, he was a member of the Académie de Dijon, the Athénée des arts and the Société des sciences, lettres et arts de Paris.

Godefroy-Charles-Henri de La Tour d'Auvergne was a French aristocrat, pair de france (1771), born January 27, 1728 in Paris and died December 3, 1792 at Chateau de Navarre near Evreux. He was appointed colonel general of cavalry on July 7, 1740 (a position retained by the Count of Evreux), brigadier on March 20, 1747, and maréchal de camp on May 10, 1747.He was Prince de Turenne, then Duc de Bouillon (from Oct. 1771), Duc d'Albret, Duc de Château-Thierry and Comte d'Evreux. Château-Thierry, Comte d'Evreux and Grand Chamberlain of France (from 1747 to 1775). As such, it was he who, on the death of Louis XV on May 10, 1774, announced, from the balcony of the Cour de Marbre at Versailles, the ritual "Le roi est mort! Vive le roi!".1733-1803)
