Large 17th-century Living Christ.
Carved in walnut, head raised towards heaven, loincloth tied at the left hip, right leg bent, feet parallel.
Of particular note is the depiction of the living Christ with open eyes, a much rarer feature.
This allowed the artist to imbue the facial expression with a particularly powerful intensity.
Height 72 cm.
Visible losses (arm, big toe of the right foot), minor damage.
