Antique Tabriz rug, 202 x 310 cm, hand-knotted wool in Iran,
early 20th century, 1890 - 1910, rare model

A beautiful antique piece as I like to unearth them,
this very beautiful Tabriz decorated with fifteen mihrabs, has an exceptional patina and a very uncommon decoration.
The soft, fine wool of which it is composed preserves magnificent colors, blues, reds, greens, wine lees, curries,
the motifs laid down or haloed in ivory provoke striking contrasts.

This rug measures 202 cm wide by 310 cm long.
It remains in very fine condition, its light wear is widespread and gives it an incomparable edge.
The bangs are short,
the selvedges in good condition,
the velvet slightly worn evenly.
An old restoration is present, but well done.

Rug from the 1890s-1910s.
This piece has many, many years ahead of it as a salon or hall rug.
These rugs support the large, even very large passage,
BUT on the wall, this piece, placed in a large hall or living room, would take all its strength.
