The piece belongs to the "Parmaklı" kilim family, which means "finger" in Turkish, and originates from the Afyon region in southwest Anatolia.
Its graphic power and instantaneous reading give the eye a multidimensional field centered on a double symmetry, ascending and from left to right.
In an ultra-suitable compact format, this work can easily be apprehended as a painting. The ingenuity lies in the space, the combinations and the succession. The whole is totally free and yet absolutely masterful. The simple fact that there are no borders gives this piece an infinite dimension in space.
The parmaklı motif evokes a host of subjects around balance. That of the family, brotherhood, harmony between the occupants of the nomadic habitat as well as solidarity between its members. It's a bit like Peace and Love, only prettier!
In this balance of shapes in motion, the palette of hues acts as an energy-releasing fluid. The harmony of more or less dense and luminous vegetal hues is striking, the tones are radiant, a real sunshine.
