Antique Drocourt Paris Brass Gorge Case Carriage Clock 8-day Timepiece C.1890
This is an antique French carriage clock manufactured by Drocourt of Paris, featuring a brass "Gorge" style case with tiered moldings at the top and base. Five beveled glass panels enclose the movement, including a circular viewing window on the top panel. The white enamel dial consists of black Roman numerals and a chapter ring for minutes, paired with blued steel Breguet-style hands. The 8-day mechanical timepiece movement includes the Drocourt trademark on the backplate, depicting the initials "D C" on either side of a carriage clock icon within an oval. The rear hinged door opens to a mechanical 8-day movement with a back plate stamped with the serial number 6787. The base plate is stamped with the number 14787 . The movement is a striking type that sounds the hours and half-hours on a circular blued-steel gong. The back plate includes two square arbors for winding the time and strike mechanisms, a central arbor for hand adjustment, and a speed regulator scale marked S and F.
