Exceptional officer's clock with great complications, by Leroy et fils at the Palais Royal, circa 1840.
Enamel dial with Roman numerals. Breguet hands in burnished steel. Gilt brass movement with side lever escapement, compensated balance, grande or petite sonnerie on two gongs, alarm, and strike on demand by pressing the button at noon.
Grande or petite sonnerie, means that one can, depending on the position of the lever located underneath, make it strike, the hours, and the quarters as they pass, or, simply, the quarters on two gongs. There is also a stop function of course.
