Depicts Hercules leaning on a tree trunk, holding his club and three apples in his left hand, from the Garden of the Hesperides. Octagonal base on lion's paw feet. Movement signed on the dial "Le Roy & Fils. Horloger du Roi à Paris" (The King's Clockmaker in Paris). Very fine gilding. France. Early 19th century. Model historically attributed to Claude Galle (1759-1815). Published in the book "Vergoldete Bronzen" (Gilded Bronzes), page 399.
