Hanau - Pair Of 800 Thousandths Silver Tripod Vases In The Louis XVI Style, Late XIXᵉ Century.
Hanau - Pair of Louis XVI style 800 thousandth silver tripod vases, late XIXᵉ century
Important and elegant pair of 800 thousandths silver vases made in Hanau, Germany, at the end of the XIXᵉ century, in the taste of the Louis XVI style.
These vases feature a particularly refined architecture, resting on an openwork tripod base with slender colonnettes joined by movable rings. The feet terminate in remarkable claws adorned with stylized lion heads, a detail of great craftsmanship.
The ovoid body of the vase is made of a single piece of wood.
The ovoid body is richly adorned with high-relief ram heads holding fine draped garlands, an emblematic motif of the Louis XVI neoclassical repertoire. Leafy reserves and finely chased frames harmoniously structure the surfaces.
The flared neck develops a repoussé and amati decoration with radiating motifs, contrasting elegantly with the polished parts of the body. The ensemble testifies to the particularly virtuoso craftsmanship of the Hanau workshops, famous in the late XIXᵉ century for their historicist productions of the highest quality inspired by French goldsmithing of the XVIIᵉ and XVIIIᵉ centuries.
The finesse of the chasing and the design of the neck and the body are of the highest quality.
Fine chasing, rich decoration and balanced proportions give this pair a remarkable decorative presence.
