Set Of Four Cast Silver Candlesticks Decorated With Vines – France, Early 20th Century
Set of four cast silver candlesticks with vine decoration – France, early 20th century Superb set of four first-grade solid silver candlesticks, French manufacture from the early 20th century, executed entirely in cast silver, a guarantee of exceptional weight and remarkable casting quality. The decoration, in high relief and carefully chiseled, displays rich motifs of vine leaves and grape clusters, covering the base, the shaft and the bobèche. The twisted shaft, adorned with round-bosse elements and finely engraved decorative rings, provides an elegant visual rhythm. Each candlestick rests on an octagonal base with regular sides, entirely decorated with this same sculptural plant motif, reinforcing the presence and coherence of the whole. The harmonious proportions and the goldsmith work testify to the know-how of the best French workshops of the period. The silversmith's mark, the first two letters of which are "DN", remains unidentified, but attests to a high-end production.
