Connoisseurs and other collectors will recognize and appreciate at first glance this magnificent Cuval from Dazkiri in western Anatolia.
Cuvals belong to that great family of everyday objects used by the nomadic populations of Anatolia. In the past, they were used to store and transport cereals.
These precious, authentic objects, with their motifs, could be used to identify their rightful owner, as well as their geographical origin.
Woven wool on wool.
The motifs are embroidered on the central part, using the Sumak technique. These 2 bands form the front of the bag. The strips woven without motifs form the back.
Exclusively vegetal colors, deep and luminous. The palette is simply delicious: carmine red, burgundy, indigo blue, cobalt blue, sage green, eggplant brown, ivory. The entire handle is intact, woven in the most beautiful way.
A true marvel, a prized collector's item. Usually, this type of object is admired in Museums...
