A Blanc De Chine Peony Brushpot - China, Late Ming Dynasty

A Blanc de Chine Reticulated Porcelain Brush Pot with Peony Decoration
Dehua, Fujian
Chine 17th
Late Ming dynasty – Early Kangxi period (1661–1722)

Height: 8.8 cm
Rim diameter: 5.3 cm

This brush pot is of particularly interesting size, being notably small for this type of object.

For a slightly larger example, see:

- Cornette de Saint Cyr, Collections de la Compagnie de la Chine et des Indes, 22 March 2021, lot 69

Hairline cracks to the body have been cleaned and restored. There is a small chip to the base, which appears to have been lightly polished. Minor firing cracks or surface scratches to the glaze, not going through. Very small chips to the reticulated decoration.

Further information and photographs available upon request.
