A "large" Acrobats" Cup And Saucer - China, 18th Century, Qianlong Period

A porcelain cup and saucer decorated in Famille Rose enamels, with a lobed rim, depicting two jugglers and a tight-rope walker. China, 18th century
Qianlong period (1736-1795)

Diameter (saucer): 13.9 cm
Height (cup): 4.6 cm. This decoration is uncommon: it is executed in Famille Rose enamels in the manner of so-called “Mandarin” wares. It departs from the usual garden-scene decorations of human figures, and belongs rather to a narrative register.

For a set with the same decoration but smaller size, see :

– National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, no. 1903B.a-b-D5.

– Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, no. BK-AM-32-C.

Provenance:
– Luis Alegria, Porto.

Excellent condition, a tiny chip on the foot.
