* CHINA, QING DYNASTY, KANGXI PERIOD (1661–1722), GREEN FAMILY *
Jingdezhen kilns
China, a pair of fine lidded vases with octagonal sections, circa 1690, bisque porcelain decorated with polychrome enamels
painted in green, yellow, aubergine, turquoise blue and black
The body is divided into three sections or segments forming panels adorned with floral and arabesque motifs, banana leaves, bands of interlaced geometric patterns and other foliage; the lid is topped with a knob imitating a seed.
In very good condition; no cracks, chips, repairs or wear.
(However, it should be noted that the handle on one of the lids appears to have been re-glued).
Two identical vases (part of a five-piece set) were rescued from Clandon Park, in Surrey, on the night of the fire, 29 April 2015 (Collection of Mrs David Gubbay, Clandon Park, Surrey, National Trust, 1440409.1–5).

Two other vases of almost identical dimensions, of a different design, decorated with a similar motif in the same colours and also having formed part of a five-piece set, were offered for sale in 2021 with an estimate of €6,000–8,000.
