Large Neoclassical Sculpture
Large white marble sculpture of a "Lampe à huile traitée à l'Antique".
This highly decorative marble sculpture, with its large dimensions and pure neoclassical lines, is based on models of oil lamps made in bronze or ceramics in ancient Rome.
The slightly elliptical body of the lamp is sculpted around its perimeter with a scrolling plant motif, and features a large, equally decorated side socket. The pedestal features a square-section base ( 13.5 by 13.5 CM) topped by a molded circular baluster.
The sculpture is made up of three parts, which can be disassembled for safer transport; the base and lamp body were once glued to the plaster and could easily be glued again; the small olive-shaped fretel on top of the body is invisibly fixed by a threaded rod pin aimed into a small lead primer (it can also be disassembled for transport).
Quality Italian work, dating from the first half of the 19th century, Restoration period. This type of piece, always in the spirit of the "Grand Tour", was used to embellish the statuary decorations of neoclassical salons ...
NB/ Weight approx. 10 kgs excluding packaging . Shipment to France via Colissimo with tracking and insurance: 50 euros . Other destinations on request.
