Early 19th Century Viennese "temple" Clock
Refined and unique "temple" clock which features an ebonized wooden base, alabaster columns and partitions, a finely carved maple case, and gilded lost-wax cast bronze appliques. These include floral garlands with fruit, cornucopias, and faces, column bases and capitals, a pendulum, and two playing cupids. Another distinctive feature of this clock is the mirror on the front. The clock also features two keys, a dial with Arabic numerals protected by an opening glass, and a working chime that strikes the hours, half-hours, repeats, and even dials at night. This is a timepiece of great taste and refinement, capable of adding a touch of class and antiquity to any setting. Made in Vienna during the Empire period, around the early 19th century.
