Pair of very finely executed miniatures, one depicting Mary Magdalene Penitent after a painting by TITIAN in Palazzo PITTI, Florence, and the other "The Death of Cleopatra" after a work by Guido RÉNI also in Palazzo PITTI.
The miniature depicting Mary Magdalene is signed on the right-hand side: S. CALISTRI. This 19th-century Italian artist specialized in extremely fine miniatures.
I have not opened these miniatures, they are "in their juice".
Light lack on the border of the frame of Marie Antoinette and trace of gilding on the bottom of the glass of Cleopatra's death. I have not touched them.
I believe that these two miniatures are by the same artist, one being signed and the other apparently not, so having bought them together, I am selling both.
