Watercolor, 18th Century, Louis XV, Louis XVI, Religious Virgin And Child, Framed By Bernini And Raphael, Christ
An elegant 18th-century watercolor on paper, painted during the reign of Louis XV or Louis XVI, depicting a delicate religious scene: the Virgin and Child surrounded by two cherubs in a public landscape. The work captivates with its soft palette of pastel tones, celestial blues, and powdery pinks, as well as the expressiveness of the faces. This harmonious composition, imbued with tenderness and gentleness, respects the pyramidal structure favored in the 17th and 18th centuries. It is clearly influenced by the works of Raphael. The whole, although unsigned, exudes genuine sensitivity and testifies to a skilled hand, likely from an 18th-century French academic workshop. It is presented in a carved, giltwood frame, known as the "Bernini style." There are a few minor traces of dampness on the mat, but nothing serious. Dimensions with frame: 49.50 cm x 36.50 cm. Image size of the watercolor alone: 32 cm x 23.50 cm. Shipping within France via Colissimo registered mail with insurance and excellent packaging: €20.
