An Art Nouveau oil on canvas depicting the portrait of an elegantly dressed young woman. She is enjoying the delicate fragrance of a rose. Other flowers in front of her complete the scene. This charming painting is presented in its original Art Nouveau frame of gilded stucco wood. As you can see in the photos, the painting is in its original condition. A few touch-ups are needed, but nothing serious. There are some slight cracks on the frame. Cleaning would reveal the original, more vibrant colors beneath the varnish, which has yellowed with age. In the lower left corner is a monogram: L.P., which I have not identified. This delicate and romantic portrait is reminiscent of the portraits of elegant women by Emile Vernon, from the same period.
