Large Mirror, Directoire Style - Early 20th Century
This Directoire-style trumeau mirror is distinguished by its painted frame enhanced by delicate gilded ornamentation, which elegantly underscores the purity of its lines. Its arched top is surrounded by moldings and topped by a refined décor of two stylized swan figures facing each other around a central urn, all enveloped by a play of finely sculpted scrolls. The side jambs form pilasters that create a harmonious verticality. They are accompanied by large palmettes above. In the lower corners, geometrical motifs add a touch of balance and symmetry. Together, they compose a mirror that is both decorative and architectural, capable of bringing a noble and luminous presence to any interior.
