Marble And Bronze Fireplace Trim, Art Deco - 1920

Mantelpiece set in sea green and yellow sienna marble comprising a pendulum in the shape of a triangular prism accompanied by two matching cups. This important clock has a circular enamelled dial bearing the signatures: “Josse – St Nazaire”. Under the dial, a gilded bronze sculpture, representing flowers and foliage, forms a stylized arch in the lower part. The clock rests on four Art Deco galette feet in gilded bronze as well. Two layered cuts of sea green marble and yellow sienna marble complete the set. They have an elegant barrel and four small bronze feet. The combination of marble and bronze, its shape and its ornamentation make this fireplace set a unique work, faithful to the innovative design of the early 20th century.
