Marquetery Furniture
Elegant Napoleon III-period entre-deux furniture, adorned with sumptuous "Boulle" marquetry, named after Charles-André BOULLE, master cabinetmaker to King Louis XIV, who brought to its apogee this refined technique blending chased brass and tortoiseshell. The ornamentation here is generous: at the top, on the front and along the jambs, finely cut brass stands out against a blackened pearwood background, creating a contrast of great nobility. The motifs, composed of entwined scrolls, foliage and arabesques, bear witness to remarkably precise workmanship.
The cabinet opens with a door that pulls to the right, underlined in the corners by four concave elements and enhanced by bronze trim. It is fitted with an elaborate key and a perfectly functional lock. A large medallion stands out in the center, encircled by a large bronze molding with leaf and pearl decoration. The interior, in mahogany, houses two shelves of the same species.
The ensemble is enriched by an abundance of bronze decoration: sculpted falls featuring female allegories at the top of the jambs, varied trimmings punctuating the front and sides, not forgetting the inlaid brass fillets that finely underline the lines of the piece of furniture.
It is crowned with its original veined Carrara white marble, whose pure brilliance further enhances the richness of the ensemble.
An exceptional piece, a testament to two-hundred-year-old craftsmanship, this piece of furniture will bring a sumptuous, timeless presence to your interior.
