Remarkable bronze by Henry Fugère (1872-1944) entitled "Bellica Virtus" or "The Lion Hunter." This captivating work of art measures 62 cm in height and depicts a triumphant hunter, standing proudly over a slain lion. The hunter, dressed in a loincloth, displays a determined posture and firmly holds a spear, testifying to his courage. The terrace of the sculpture bears the inscription "BELLICA VIRTUS" and the artist's signature. This bronze with a brown and green patina is a remarkable example of Henry Fugère's technical mastery and the powerful symbolism of the warrior. This exceptional piece will seduce with its strength and scale. Henry Fugère (1872-1944) was a French sculptor and medal engraver. From 1893, he exhibited regularly in the salons of the Société des Artistes Français, of which he was eventually elected vice-president.
