Furniture In Boulle Marquetry, Napoleon III Period - Mid-19th Century

Side-height piece of furniture in "Boulle" Marquetry of Red Tortoise Scales and cut brass, on a background of blackened pear tree. It opens on the front with a leaf with a pronounced curve decorated with a medallion underlined by a finely chiseled brass rod. Its center features a decoration of a bouquet on a flared pedestal sheltered by a dome, all surrounded by a couple of birds, scrolls, garlands of leaves... Similar marquetry adorns the angles of this door, also embellished of bronzes, one of them forming the entrance to a lock in working order. This piece of furniture is supplied with its original key. There are many other ornaments throughout this piece of furniture. Thus busts of women, bronze falls, spandrels, nets and brass galleries, or even "Boulle" marquetry embellish its rounded uprights, its curved sides, and its high and low crosspieces. The Mahogany interior consists of two shelves of the same wood, with fretted and blackened front edges. They are placed on racks and therefore adjustable as desired over a total storage height of 74.5 cm. Its top is a White Marble, with contours following the curved lines of the Furniture. The back is in oak.
