"Between-two Cabinet In Boulle Marquetry, Napoleon III Period - Mid-19th Century"
Elegant in-between piece of furniture from the Napoleon III period, with magnificent "Boulle" marquetry, named after Charles-André BOULLE, master cabinetmaker to King Louis XIV, who made famous this technique using the inlay of chiseled brass on a background. tortoiseshell. This ornamentation process is found in various places, in particular in the upper part, on the facade and on the uprights, always on a black background in blackened wood, thus offering a beautiful contrast. The chiseled brass inlays, of country inspiration, are in the form of intertwined volutes, flowers, foliage and a basket. This property opens with a door pulling to the right, composed in the corners of four concave elements: these are separated by chiseled bronze motifs, one of which is provided with a key for opening. The pattern of oval shape in the central part, slightly domed, presents an important molding in bronze, with flower decoration accompanied by a pearl. The mahogany interior is structured with two shelves of the same species, adjustable on a rack, with a black varnished field. In addition, this quality furniture at support height is enriched with many bronzes, in particular sculpted in the shape of sirens in the upper part of the uprights, in the shape of flowers for the falls, but also in the half-round angles. Two moldings of the same alloy embellish the upper part, applied for the first and gadrooned for the second. A third molding scalloped with shells embellishes the base in its overhang, while its periphery, like that of the half-round angles, is finely underlined with inlays of brass fillet on blackened wood. This property is crowned with an original veined white marble in perfect condition, which brings an additional shine to the whole. This exceptional bicentenary piece of furniture will inevitably mark your interior with a sumptuous touch.
