Henri Picard was a prestigious 19th-century bronze caster and gilder who worked in Paris between 1831 and 1864.
Picard was renowned for casting and gilding decorative objects of the highest quality. He worked for the Defreville firm and also collaborated with contemporary designers such as Charles Perrault and Grault. While the artisan received commissions from many important patrons, Picard’s most notable achievement was supplying Emperor Napoleon III with decorative objects, several of which are still on display in the State Apartment of the Louvre Museum in Paris.
