Bracelet 1840 Agate Beads Clasp And Heart Tassel
This bracelet is composed of ten beads, eight of agate in various colors and two of blood jasper.
The beads are mounted rosary-style on a gilded metal wire and each is framed by two filigree cupules that appear to be vermeil (impossible to test).
The voluminous heart-shaped ratchet clasp is metal with a thick layer of gilding.
Suspended from the tip of the heart clasp is a tassel consisting of a larger zoned agate bead framed by two vermeil filigree cupules that carries at the end of chainlets two small carnelian beads and a carnelian heart beneath another zoned agate bead. The tassel cupules are in gilded metal.
This is a charming, colorful piece of jewelry with sentimental connotations typical of the 1840s during the reign of Louis-Philippe.
