Covered Mug In Capodimonte Porcelain, 19th Century.
Capodimonte porcelain covered mug, 19th century
Elegant 19th-century Capodimonte fine porcelain covered tankard, remarkable for the richness of its polychrome and gilded decoration, executed entirely by hand.
The piece is distinguished by large, finely painted historiated cartouches, depicting scenes with figures in a mythological and antique spirit. These include female and male figures, accompanied by symbolic elements such as a lion, moving through architectural landscapes evocative of classical Italy.
The ensemble is framed by scrolls, garlands and rocaille motifs in shimmering hues - pinks, greens, golds - of great finesse of execution. The lid, also richly ornamented, features mascarons and putti in a continuous decoration, surmounted by an elegant gilded knob.
The particularly elaborate handle incorporates figurative relief decoration, typical of Capodimonte craftsmanship, bringing sculptural relief and a highly decorative dimension to the ensemble.
The base bears the blue crown mark, the emblematic signature of the Capodimonte manufacture.
Very fine showcase or collector's piece, illustrating the refinement and virtuosity of 19th-century Italian production inspired by the 18th.
