Carved alabaster covered ointment jar with projecting flutes, resting on a pedestal base. On each side, small flats.
The round lid with twisted flutes.
Work from the 16th century, probably Italian. Superb honey and amber patina on the body of the vase, perhaps due to the use of a wax or varnish that has faded over time.
Restorations, missing parts, wear, parts glued back together at the foot with missing parts.
