Important Medici Krater, With Sphinxes, In Bronze With A Green Patina On Its Crimson Velvet Base
Artist: Non Signé
An important bronze table vase with a green park patina, mounted on a crimson velvet base. In the Baroque style, this charming krater with seated sphinxes is a smaller version of those in the Park of Versailles and has the patina characteristic of bronze exposed outdoors. This high-quality piece, beautifully chased, dates from the 19th century and is decorative due to its size and presentation: its two handles hanging from the mouth of the lion with its corolla-shaped head, its central mascaron adorned with medallions, and its two seated sphinxes at each handle; the neck is intricately worked, and the base is beautifully gadrooned on a pretty pedestal. A beautiful piece full of the charm of the Grand Siècle, the grandeur of the château spirit and its ornamentation; in good condition, suitable for a select and richly decorated setting, this piece is in good condition with its beautiful matte patina softened by time.
