Pair Of Large 19th-century Porcelain Bisque Rhytons With Boar Heads
An impressive pair of antique-inspired biscuit porcelain rhytons.
Each rhyton is shaped like a flared cornucopia with a fluted rim, ending in a boar’s head rendered with great naturalistic precision. The horn rests on a stylized miniature chariot with wheels.
The set is presented on a rectangular pedestal decorated with bas-relief on all sides: a reclining putto and a laurel wreath.
It bears an incised model number (1648) as well as a workshop mark in blue stamping surmounted by a crown (perhaps a German manufacturer?).
Very good overall condition, excellent quality of detail; a highly decorative, neoclassically inspired piece.
Height: 30 cm
Length: 24 cm
Width: 10 cm
Bowl diameter: 20 cm
Shipping costs not included.
