Bronze "reinerus" Cassolette - Neo-romanesque Nightlight - 19th Century
A bronze cassolette (or incense burner) with a medal patina and gilt highlights, a faithful and luxurious reproduction of the famous medieval model known as the "Reinerus Cassolette" (12th-century original held at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Lille). This highly sought-after piece testifies to the enthusiasm of the great Parisian goldsmith workshops of the 19th century for Romanesque and Gothic art. Note: The base: A neo-Gothic tripod adorned with fleurs-de-lis within lozenges, typical of the productions of the Poussielgue-Rusand or Bachelet firms.
