Elegant Empire Period Clock, France, Circa 1825
Superb mercury-gilded, finely chased bronze clock, illustrating all the refinement of the Empire style. This piece features a female figure draped in antique style, delicately depicted in a graceful attitude, holding a floral element above the dial.
The circular white porcelain dial, with Roman numerals, is signed "Pillard à Troyes", attesting to quality French manufacture. The set rests on a rectangular base adorned with finely worked bas-reliefs depicting country scenes and putti, characteristic of the neoclassical taste of the early 19th century.
To the right, a decorative element in the form of a perfume burner harmoniously completes the composition, bringing balance and sophistication to the whole.
Gilt in very fine condition, with a double original patina.
