Kilim / Adyaman Gallery - Anatolia. Circa 1880. 285 X 65 Cm
Two major characteristics stand out in this piece. The relative narrowness (65 cm) offers possibilities for positioning in a hallway or entranceway, and the dense, saturated vegetal hues.
It is these same hues and its texture that allow us to date this piece to the late 19th century.
Origin: Adiyaman in southeastern Anatolia.
The weaving is a pure marvel of precision, regularity and finesse.
There is a succession of woven and embroidered horizontal bands all over the surface.
The palette of hues is deep, pure.
The saturated indigo blues are aquatic, oceanic.
In perfect condition!
Circa 1880
Dim : 285 x 65 cm
It is important to point out that this piece is the work of Kurdish weavers. The shades tell us so, as does the weaving, which requires unparalleled dexterity.
