Mont Blanc – Oil Painting on Panel – Karl Böttner, 1939
Antique painting depicting a crevasse on a Mont Blanc glacier; a striking alpine landscape dominated by snow, ideal for furnishing chalets and mountain interiors.
Technical details:
Painting depicting a crevasse on Mont Blanc, shown from a close vantage point that emphasizes the structure of the ice and the rocky formation of the high mountains. The composition develops vertically, with a central ridge organizing the pictorial space and leading the viewer’s eye toward the mountain masses in the background. In the foreground, fractured glacial surfaces are visible, marked by deep fissures and chromatic variations that convey the texture of ice and rock. The predominant tones are cool whites, greys, and blues, enlivened by warmer, earthy accents in the exposed rocky areas. The paint application is compact and controlled, with visible yet restrained brushstrokes aimed at building volume rather than focusing on descriptive detail. The work is signed at the lower left and dated 1939. Available with a 7 cm (2.76 inches) antique fir-wood frame, custom-made in our restoration workshop.
