Venetian armchair crafted in solid walnut, dating to the mid-18th century, in full Louis XV style.
The structure highlights the typical sinuous lines of the Rocaille taste, here reinterpreted in an Italian key: the front cabriole legs, with their fluid curvature, convey a sense of movement and lightness, while the rear legs maintain the same harmonious bend. The armrests, also elegantly shaped and seamlessly connected, follow a natural flowing design that dialogues with the overall softness of the silhouette.
The high backrest, arched at the top, features a central openwork carving in the shape of a stylized lyre, lending verticality and elegance. The seat is handwoven in cord, a detail that not only ensures strength and functionality but also recalls the Venetian tradition of furniture destined more for villas than for palaces, where comfort was paired with refined yet sober taste.
This walnut armchair represents a significant example of 18th-century Venetian craftsmanship: a piece that combines the formal dynamism of Rococo with the concreteness and naturalness typical of the local tradition.
