Mazarin Desk Forming A Cabinet, Writing Cupboard, Louis XIV, Early 18th Century
This is a Louis XIV period piece, most likely from Belgium or Germany.
It is made of solid walnut, walnut veneer, and burr walnut.
This unusual piece rests on a base with eight Mazarin legs joined by stretchers.
Drawers are located on either side, along with a storage door.
The large front drawer opens with a key, pivots, and reveals a leather writing surface and storage drawers.
The horizontal section covering the lower part of the desk slides under the upper section for easy access while working.
The upper section opens to reveal several drawers on each side and a door that itself opens to reveal additional drawers.
This desk is very original and stands out from the ordinary compared to what is typically found on the market.
The entire piece is delicately accented with gilt bronze.
The locks are functional, and the keys are present.
The upper section rests on the lower one.
The piece is in very good condition, with some minor repairs and lifted veneers.
