Large Nevers Vase, Ornamental And Polychromed Renaissance Style, Signed Montagnon.
Artist: Montagnon
With its pure, ornamental lines, this lovely large vase made by the Montagnon earthenware factory is a 19th-century Nevers piece in the Renaissance style. Richly decorated with yellow on blue marine motifs, it is part of the French Renaissance influenced by Italy. Antoine Montagnon, who signed his piece under the foot, can be proud of his creation: a beautiful vase with a wide neck decorated with marmoset heads. The body, in the shape of an avasée bowl, is topped by a narrowed doucine neck, giving it allure, and the decoration of the sea and its mysteries is rich in monsters, half animal, half man with a cornucopia, winged angels and marine gods capturing a dolphin, a swan on the base in beautiful colored ornamentation, the foot and neck decorated with acanthus leaves developed on a "bleu de France" background, everything for this pretty piece is combined in terms of material, design and color. Generously proportioned, this piece from the second half of the 19th century is ornamental and in perfect condition, worthy of presenting your spring flowers....
