Louis XV Period Fauteuil à La Reine - Probably Parisian Work, XVIIIᵉ Century
Elegant molded and carved wood fauteuil à la reine, French Louis XV period work, probably Parisian, mid XVIIIᵉ century.
The seat's silhouette features a particularly refined design, emblematic of the rocaille style. The accotoirs develop that "whiplash" movement so characteristic of Louis XV furniture, bringing great suppleness to the line. The manchettes, slightly set back, accentuate this momentum and testify to a highly mastered conception of the seat.
The belt, richly scrolled and worked, enlivens the whole with an elegant play of curves and counter-curves. It rests on four fine turned cambered legs, ending in delicately shaped small hooves, a joinery detail that underlines the care taken in the execution.
The dossier à la reine, with its harmonious proportions, is distinguished by the delicacy of its crowning: the top rail is adorned at its center with a small carved flowerlet, bringing a note of finesse and lightness to the whole.
The armchair retains its antique Aubusson upholstery, most likely original, which contributes to the piece's charm and authenticity. Underneath the upholstery is also an antique inventory number mentioning Lausanne, testifying to an old referencing or provenance linked to a collection.
This is not a seat intended for everyday use: the armchair is presented as a collector's piece, sought after above all for the quality of its joinery, the correctness of its proportions and its authentic character.
A seat full of elegance and movement, destined for an art lover or collector of antique seats.
