Very fine Gashghai tribal rug from southern Iran, featuring a remarkable three aligned hexagonal medallions, connected by a central structuring axis, on a deep midnight-blue field.

The entire field is enlivened by a profusion of finely stylized tribal and symbolic motifs, characteristic of the nomadic Gashghai repertoire, offering a dense and lively reading.

The composition is harmoniously framed by a large main border with ivory background, adorned with repetitive geometric motifs, flanked by finely drawn secondary endpapers, lending balance and elegance to the whole.

The rich palette features tones of brick red, midnight blue, ivory and shades of orange, obtained from natural dyes, offering beautiful depth and subtle variations.

Wool-on-wool carpet, with soft, dense velvet, showing a beautiful antique patina.
Very good overall condition, with light even wear consistent with its age. Preserved edges and short bangs.

Work from the Shiraz region, in the province of Fars, cradle of the Gashghai tribes, close to ancient Persepolis.
