Micro-mosaic plaque depicting the famousfamous Madonna Conestabile, faithfully transposed from the masterpiece bymasterpiece by Raphaël Sanzio,now housed in the Hermitage Museumin St. Petersburg.
Crafted around 1820 by a skilled Roman mosaicist, this high-quality workexecuted on a copper plate.
It is preserved in its originaloriginal gilded wood frame.
The work is distinguished by a remarkable pictorial sensitivitysensitivity: the delicate inclination of the Virgin's head, her meditative gazemeditative gaze directed at the Child, and the Umbrian landscape in thethe Umbrian landscape in the background are rendered with exceptional finesseRoman workshops of the first half of the 19th century.
