A charming pendant depicting a Moor's bust, the head carved in onyx with small diamond inlays for the eyes, the necklace also adorned with small cut diamonds.
The bust, in red banded agate, rests on a finely molded gold mount. The base contains a light green stone, probably a very old chrysoprase, engraved with a seated warrior holding a bow, shield, and quiver—iconography that could evoke Apollo, god of light and the arts, often depicted armed with a bow and quiver. A very fine engraving.
The silver suspension ring is set with small diamonds, one of which is missing.
A charming object, a testament to the exotic and neoclassical taste of the 19th century.
Height: 4.2 cm.
