This text, printed on parchment (yellowed), and annotated, is a letter of conferral of a university degree (lawyer's diploma), written in Latin from the University of Dijon. The graduate is Désiré Charles FrançoisBOUZON ((1734-1781) born and active in Lons le Saulnier.

(...It is fitting for professors to cultivate justice and truth, and to devote themselves to them with the greatest care, so that, through the reward of virtue and erudition, they may render students of jurisprudence fit and capable of fulfilling the functions of the Church and the Republic(....) we have wished to bear him witness to the truth, and to make it publicly known that, after a diligent examination, and after having publicly defended the theses of both rights,(...) he has been judged worthy(...) and after having taken the oath required according to the custom of our Academy, we have conferred upon him the degree of bachelor in both rights (...)
