Italian Ex-voto Dated 1626 - Healing Scene And Marian Apparition -
Italian ex-voto painted on panel, bearing the date 1826, illustrating a scene of popular devotion related to a grace obtained.
The composition is organized into two narrative spaces.
To the left, a kneeling man, dressed in the fashion of the Ancien Régime, raises his arm in a gesture of imploration, turned toward a celestial apparition.
In a luminous cloud unfolds a sacred scene composed of the Virgin in prayer, accompanied by an angel holding a lily, symbol of purity, evoking the Annunciation.
The inscription visible at the bottom, "C.S. 1826", followed by the words "V.F.G.R.", is in the tradition of Italian ex-voto, these initials referring to a votive formula expressing the fulfillment of a vow and the recognition of a grace received (Voto Fatto, Grazia Ricevuta).
