Boats On The Banks Of The Ill In Alsace Signed H.baudinot
Artist: Baudinot Henri
Large painting: Tranquility and boats on the banks of the Ill River, a beautiful perspective in a soft and luminous palette, with the Vosges peaks in the background. The Ill River rises in the Sundgau region, flows through Alsace, a region that owes its name to this river (Elsass, meaning "Land of the Ill" in the local dialect), and empties into the Rhine at Strasbourg. Oil on canvas, signed lower right H. Baudinot, with two reinforcements on the back. Wood and gilt stucco frame. 133 x 105 cm framed, 119 x 90 cm canvas. Henri Baudinot (1869-1926) was born in Barcelona to a family originally from Mulhouse, where he returned to train as a textile designer. He continued in this profession in Paris, before opening his own artist's studio in Mulhouse, specializing in landscapes. He regularly participated in Alsatian salons from 1914 to 1920 at the Société des Arts de Mulhouse, and in 1922 at the Salon de l'Orangerie in Strasbourg. One of his works is held at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Mulhouse.
