Brass Table Top Cigar Cutter , German Early 20 Th Century
Charming and unusual brass tabletop cigar cutter, depicting a stylized dachshund with an elongated body, both decorative and functional in spirit. Its articulated tail, fitted with a blade, operates the cutting mechanism, while the oval base also serves as a small ashtray or cigar rest.
The base is engraved with the inscription: “Guten Morgen, Vielliebchen!”, an affectionate phrase in German.
This type of object, halfway between a smoker’s accessory, a desk item, and a decorative whimsy, recalls German productions from the early 20th century, in the spirit of the decorative arts and the taste for original smoking accessories.
