Folk Art - Wooden Snuffbox

Sculpted wood snuffbox with anthropomorphic decoration.
On the front of the snuffbox is a face, the eyes are represented with two rhinestones, the nose in carved wood, and the mouth with foliage.
The reverse features a figurative scene carved in relief depicting several characters in an architectural setting.
The hinged lid reveals a hollowed interior intended for snuff.
The metal hinge slides into the lid but does not remain fixed. It is probably broken inside the lid.
A curiosity and folk art object, this snuffbox illustrates the taste for carved pieces of character, blending humor, craftsmanship virtuosity and imaginary
fantasy.
