Rome According To Hubert Robert By The Abbot Of Saint Non
Artist: Abbé De Saint Non D'après Hubert Robert
Arch of Constantin seen from below, one of the arches of the Colosseum in Rome, etched by Abbé de Saint-Non (1727-1791) after a watercolor by Hubert Robert (1733-1808). His travel guide to Italy, Naples, and Sicily, for which he notably employed Jean-Honoré Fragonard and Hubert Robert, is one of the finest of the 18th century and ruined its patron. The print is framed in a Louis XVI molded and gilded wooden frame, which has been trimmed and shows some minor damage; the engraving itself has some foxing. The plate measures 24.1 x 29.1 cm.
