Period: mid 1900s
Origin: Austria
Artist: Anton Dembinski
Technique: oil on panel

Description:
The painting depicts an alpine landscape with a snow-covered mountain range. At the center stands a peak with a pyramidal profile, flanked by other rocky formations spreading outward toward the edges of the composition. The mountain sides are rendered with dense layers of paint applied with a palette knife in oblique strokes that follow the structure of the rock faces and snowfields. In the lower part, a strip of mountain meadow introduces the foreground: the terrain is articulated in areas of light and shadow, with exposed rocks and a small rural building at the center, partially embedded in the slope. On the left and right sides of the painting stand groups of conifers framing the view toward the central massif. The foliage is defined by overlapping palette-knife strokes, in shades of green ranging from dark areas in shadow to lighter tones where the light strikes. The sky occupies the upper part of the composition and is painted in a light blue tone, interrupted by irregular clouds rendered with short, dense touches of paint. The overall structure is strongly diagonal: from the shaded area in the foreground, the viewer’s gaze rises along the ridge to the central peak, the main visual focal point.
On the reverse, a label identifies the subject as belonging to the area of Reutte (Tyrol), suggesting the location represented.Available with a 7 cm antique fir wood frame, crafted to measure in our restoration workshop.
